Skills and Training
The main provider for Marine Training in the Region is South Tyneside College. Some of the courses that are available are Marine Engineering, Merchant Navy Deck Officer Trainee Scheme, Basic Offshore Induction and Emergency Training, Further Offshore Induction and Emergency Training, Offshore Helicopter Training VHF, Shipboard Safety Officer, Universal Combined Survival and Firefighting, RYA Day Skipper, RYA Radar, RYA Yachtmasters Offshore, RYA Yachtmasters Ocean, RYA/MCA Small Craft Survival, mandatory certificates required according to STCW95 and several other short courses.
